I Can See The Whole Room, And There Is Nobody in It
2012
The visual narrative of I Can See The Whole Room, And There Is Nobody in It flows through five living rooms in my childhood. From 2011 I started collecting these old objects, furniture, and leftovers which were abandoned during the moving and my family separations during the 1990's. According to my memory, I reconstructed them into five room settings.
Photography and etching naturally became the primary mediums in this “rebuilding” process. In the book, each room is a chapter which followed by an etching, a dialogue, and a short story. Observing the incomplete images of the domestic scenery interwoven with the half sitting figures on oil paper as if gazing into the door crack of my faraway home.
The work includes the handmade book(4 editions), etching on the copper plate, litho printing, screen printing, photography, etc.
